""I am a 1st Degree Black Belt and I have been training with Mr McElhone (IV) for 10 years now. I began training for self-defence purposes and I have a younger brother who also trains under Mr McElhone. I find his teaching style both enjoyable, informative and rewarding. I feel like I learn something new every class.
Training in ITF Taekwon-do has given me the strength to realise my own potential and I would recommend Mr McElhone to anyone as a teacher.”"
Stephen Williams
""I really enjoy training with this club. Mr McElhone clearly has a lot of knowledge of Taekwon-Do, which is evident in the classes, which are structured really effectively. Every class is different, which is great and it keeps it interesting. I always feel as though I have learnt a lot from each class, and just cannot wait for the next one!
As a parent, I can understand that keeping the young children engaged and interested is not always easy. Mr McElhone, however does a great job at encouraging them to practise technique and also gives them fun things to do so that they are kept interested and always want to come back.
Having trained at other organisations before, Mr McElhone is by far the best Taekwon-Do instructor I have trained with. I feel very lucky to be able to train at his club - you never want the session to end because it is always so amazing.”"
Laura Nicol
""I started training in this martial art to gain more confidence, help focus myself or should I say, give me something to focus on, and also to help with weight loss. Taekwon-Do has done a lot for me so far. It has helped my confidence, I have lost some weight, I have made new friends (both young and old) and it has taught me discipline.
His ability in this respected martial art are to a high standard of which I had expected from a teacher. He knows what he is doing and performs with proficiency and appropriate impact. His character is of a great one - kind, thoughtful, considerate, respectful, happy and disciplined. He helps as much as he can, whenever anyone is stuck or confused and he always praises the good work, which is a great confidence boost for us. He is a great pleasure to train with and be a part of the team with him. -An all round great teacher and a great person to be taught by!”"
Jamie Hepple
"“Mr McElhone’s has a good rapport with his students and they can confide in him, if anything is troubling them. Mr McElhone also understands the idea of family importance. He is always aware of this in the class and the team-building amongst his students is second to none. The benefits you gain in Taekwon-Do is comradeship coupled with a sense of both group and individual confidence and self-achievement. His lessons encourage self-improvement, confidence building and developing a willingness to help others. We liked the family feel and the participation in the classes. Whether father and son or mother and daughter, everyone enjoys themselves and it is always heart-warming seeing them all working hard together.
Mr McElhone sees no barriers to our learning. He will always endeavour to help and guide you along the way of achieving your own goal, no matter how big or small. There is no age barrier and it does not discriminate anyone with disabilities. Taekwon-Do is open to everyone.""
Helen Goldsmith
""Mr McElhone has remained true to the teachings of General Choi, the founder of Taekwon-Do and he is a dedicated member of the ITF. I began training in Taekwon-Do for various reasons including self defence, fitness and enjoyment. I feel Mr McElhone's teaching methods are safe and effective for both adults and children alike. He is respected by his students for his knowledge and commitment to the art of ITF Taekwon-Do.""
Philip O'Halloran
""Mr McElhone certainly has a way of getting the best out of people. His classes are never the same - week in, week out! He varies things all the time, so it makes you want to do Taekwon-Do all the time! He is brilliant and makes the all kids feel 10ft tall! They all love the class! I feel very lucky to have him as my teacher!""
Sean Brown
""To me, our group is a BIG team which eventually turned into a BIG family. Mr McElhone has the true heart and soul of a Martial Arts Instructor. Keep up the great job Sir!""
Jimmy Mukangara
""I can honestly say it has been a great pleasure to have been taught by Mr McElhone for the past 9 years. His classes are varied and cater for children and adults of all ages and abilities. Mr McElhone is very professional and teaches to a very high standard, having the ability to make classes an enjoyment due to his jovial manner and good sense of humour. Over the past 20 years, I have had several different Taekwon-do instructors with Mr McElhone being one of the best and I would definitely recommend coming along to his classes.""
Gail Jackson
""I have complete respect for Mr McElhone. Even now, he still continues to impress me with his knowledge and skill of the art of ITF Taekwon-Do. This includes its history and philosophy and a clear understanding on the application of the techniques and how they work on a scientific level. Importantly, he never asks of his students what he is not prepared to do himself. He has the ability to differentiate the classes according to ability, age and rank and worked with the students well so that they may stay motivated and focus on improving themselves.
One of his main strengths is his passion for what he teaches. He is always inspiring and encouraging with his words of enthusiasm. He has a high level of fitness and communicates well. Mr McElhone has principles, morals and ethics to which he abides by. He is kind, generous, respectful, polite and thoughtful. Also, he has a great sense of humour and a strong devotion to Taekwon-Do, which shows through his way of life and happy nature."
